Ash J. Williams vs the Joker REDUX

A long time ago (8 years ago at time of writing) I joined deviantART at the suggestion of my girlfriend (of course back then she had a different account). One of the very first pieces I submitted was the typical sort of thing anyone uploads when they first joing dA: blatant fan-fiction. Specifically, it was a picture of Ash from the (original and best) Evil Dead series of films engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the Clown Prince of Crime himself, the Joker. They're fighting in some sort of lazy Photoshop effect, for some reason.

For some reason it just struck my fancy to have another crack at drawing this conflict, for a few reasons:
- Despite being bloody awful, the original picture still gets favourites and comments. It even randomly turns up in Google image searches for Ash Williams, much to my disgust. I just wanted to add a new version I'm actually happy with!
- It was a nice exercise in seeing how I've progressed. It looks alright by comparison, right?
- It's also a little gift to my long-time buddy , who I first met via a conversation on the original image. Merry Christmas pal, hope you like this!

Ashley J. Williams is the main character in the Evil Dead Trilogy, and is property of Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell et al.
The Joker is property of DC comics. The background is lazily posterised assets from Batman: Arkham City, also owned by Warner Bros/DC Comics.
