I don't hold any trophies for sport or physical achievement. It's not like I didn't try, my brain would tell my foot that it needs to swing into the round thing to provide the necessary kinetic energy to move it on to one of my team-mates, but somewhere between the dark recess behind my eyes and the ball the message would get lost in translation and I'd often end up flat on my backside.
This is where the marvel of technology has truly brightened my life: digital trophies! All the personal achievement and none of that nonsense of having to buy some cheap timber for shelving from the local DIY store (as

Retro Review: Metal Gear Solid (PSone)

At the time of writing this, Metal Gear Solid 4 is just around the corner on the releases list. So to commemorate the occasion, and remind myself of the story, I thought that I would push my PS3 to its limits by playing an outdated game created back when high definition was just a term for a tall old mans very wrinkly forehead.
We all should know the story by now: veteran soldier and all-round badass Solid Snake (not a euphemism, thank you very much) is brought out of retirement to take down the most recent crew of oddballs populating his old unit, FOXHOUND. FOXHOUND have gone rogue

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune Review for PS3
Fun. Its not a concept that you realise that most games are lacking until you play one the has loads of it. Although fun is often a subjective term (each to their own and so forth), the word is usually applied to games such as Ratchet and Clank or Jak and Daxter - quirky, cartoony platform games. Fun is not usually associated with adventure games, which is an oddity but this is because when we pick up an adventure game we want more thrills than fun. Uncharted delivers both.
The latest game from Naughty Dog, the legendary developers of the original Crash Bandicoot games and, mo

Assassin's Creed Review - PS3
This game always struck me as a very odd concept. Essentially, it appears that the creative company behind the hit Prince of Persia trilogy (Ubisoft) sat down one day and decided to create a Grand Theft Auto clone with PoPs sensibilities and the political soapbox cyberpunk intrigue of the Metal Gear Solid series. However, the twist comes in that in order to achieve the latter, they had to write an overly complex storyline in order to keep the cyberpunk aspect (that being all the sci-fi nonsense that is basically a high-definition, more expensive and domesticated version of Star Trek).
Without going into too much detail (and

Kane and Lynch Review - PS3
American comedian Dane Cook once said in one of his acts that theres one thing every guy would love to do, given the chance, and that is perform a full-blown bank heist. And you know what? He was absolutely right.
I held reasonably high expectations for Kane and Lynch, given that the game was being developed by IO Interactive, creators of the acclaimed Hitman series. The cinematic teasers promised us something with edge, a game that could epitomise the definitions of cool and masculinity. Now that Ive played the game, I am reluctant to state that I was disappointed, but must admit that perhaps I had set my

Do we need another Final Fantasy 7?
WARNING - This article features potential spoilers and discusses plot points from FF7 liberally.
Recently we have seen a slew of games and films celebrating Final Fantasy 7s ten year anniversary - Before Crisis, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Advent Children and Last Order - and with them the internet rumour mill has began to turn again: will Square-Enix remake Final Fantasy 7? And more to the point, do we want them to?
There is in fact little evidence to support the possibility. There was the PS3 tech demo that was a remake of the opening of the original FF7 (near identical, except Aeriess
